OK...
I bought my CMI Instep Crampons (4340 cross-rolled steel) a couple of years back. Including ship./handling, the cost was approx. US$40.00.
The items are designed for moderate mountain ice conditions. Comparatively light as steel spikes. Mine are still with their (baked-on) black paint finish--as I haven't yet had occasion to heavily utilize them.
I generally like the design because they are quite rugged, and made to last (and presumably made in the U.S. of A. also). Actually, I originally bought them for emergency preparedness, but they are ideal for winter hiking and mountain-climbing.
Since they have NO elastics, with reasonable care, they should last many many years.
My only dislike is that the straps are polypro straps, rather than nylon--as the vendor described them online (nylon is far more durable than polyprypoline). However, the strap material can easily be replaced once wear-and-tear begins.
Edit: I want to emphasize that this 4-point design is for moderate mountain ice--not like dealing with glacial ice situations.

Gee...what comes my mind are bright pink (women's) shoes from a shoeware line called "Crocs", with cute little "croc" logos--and with bunches of screws attached to each sole...

I was just wondering if you were the gentlemen that created these. I actually saw these on a different site and thought it was a joke but my friend walter said he used them on a small trip on app. trail. and were actually decent. Could you please forward me some of your other equipment thanks _________________ 9 planets around the sun...only 1 does the sun embrace.... |

"...AND THEY ARE EXTREMELY LIGHT AND INEXPENSIVE .."""...well, I see what you meant...
Perhaps you might make the arrangement more stable with somewhat thicker, shorter nuts and bolts (and some washers also?)--imo.
