I am not a kayaker, but I am curious regarding aspects of general small boating.
One of the aspects that I'm curious about in small-boating (kayaks, rowboats, inflatables etc.)...is evening and night boating experiences--particularly in mild weather (spring, summer and early autumn).
I think that the local open water (especially at night) in mild weather would be fairly ideal for experiencing a sense of nature without the inconveniences associated with extended traveling or crowds.
Look forward to any boater posting related experiences.

It's great to do. Find a small body or water (creek, pond lake) or even just travel up and down the shore of the Hudson. I headlamp is perfect lighting. Its very peaceful out there. I love it!

You know...a touristy photo or even hype from some local bureaucrat does not equal someone's experience--imo. So your reply is quite encouraging.
Also, as I focus on the idea...I'm realizing that the local river access (near Beacon) is fairly ideal for small-boat usage (a fairly placid, but quite a wide open expanse).
